Honduras is among the countries with the highest homicide rates in the world with 75% of murders committed with weapons 鈥� a figure significantly higher than the global average. The prevalence of firearms feeds into the country's problems with organised crime and criminal gangs.
Honduran firearms regulations are weak and lead to delays in the processing of ballistics data, the disappearance of critical information, and ineffective use of this data to prosecute criminals.
Since 2017, with the support of the US Government, HALO has been working with the Honduran Ministry of Defence, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Police to create a safer future for the people of Honduras. &n
